Arise Television’s Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has questioned President Bola Tinubu’s ability to undertake an extensive nationwide campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Drivetvnews gathered that Oseni dismissed claims that Tinubu’s reported plan to campaign in only 12 states was a strategic decision, arguing that the limited schedule reflected what he described as the president’s inability to campaign across more states.
The broadcaster made the remarks on Friday during a discussion about political developments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He recalled that Tinubu travelled extensively across the country during the 2023 general election, including campaigning in states when he was not the presidential candidate.
Oseni also referred to the campaign strategy of former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that Buhari sometimes visited two states in one day to complete his campaign within 18 days.
“The argument now that they are making, that a lot of them are saying President Tinubu now campaigning in those 12 states are strategic. It’s not strategy. He doesn’t have the capacity to campaign. Let’s stop deceiving ourselves,” Oseni said.
He added that Tinubu had campaigned in several states during the previous election and argued that Buhari’s approach demonstrated how candidates could cover multiple locations within a limited period.
Oseni further criticised what he described as a culture of self-deception in Nigeria, saying it had contributed to the country’s failure to make sufficient progress on longstanding challenges.
He argued that issues discussed during the 2015 political period continued to dominate national conversations years later.
The APC has proposed presidential campaign rallies in 12 states for Tinubu, beginning in Kaduna on October 24, 2026, and ending with a grand finale in Lagos on January 9, 2027.
