African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has launched a citizen-engagement platform designed to allow Nigerians to question him about his political record, policy proposals and plans for the country ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The platform, named Ask AA, is scheduled to go live at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council.
The portal will enable Nigerians to submit questions on key national issues, including the economy, security, technology, job creation and measures to reduce the cost of living.
According to the campaign council, Atiku will personally respond to questions submitted through the platform, with members of his media team also assisting in providing answers.
The initiative is intended to bridge the communication gap between the former Vice-President and voters by providing a direct channel through which citizens can seek clarification on his policies and political positions.
Shaibu said the platform was designed to bring Atiku closer to Nigerians through direct engagement focused on addressing their concerns.
“The objective of this initiative is to bring Atiku Abubakar closer to the electorate through a practical, problem-solving platform,” he said.
He added that the initiative reflected Atiku’s commitment to using modern technology to make governance more efficient, secure and effective.
The campaign council also disclosed plans to introduce a radio interface that would allow people in communities without internet access to participate.
In a message announcing the initiative on his social media accounts, Atiku said he developed the idea because he believed leadership should involve direct communication between elected officials and citizens.
He argued that governance had become distant from ordinary Nigerians because of bureaucratic barriers, stressing that the country’s people remained its most valuable resource.
Atiku described Ask AA as a platform for transparency, accountability and dialogue, allowing Nigerians to scrutinise his economic record, examine his policy proposals and contribute ideas for national development.
“No filters, no intermediaries,” he said.
The former Vice-President also revealed that he would personally telephone selected participants who provide their contact details through the platform to hear about their experiences and the challenges they face daily.
“Beyond answering questions here, I will personally call selected citizens who leave their contact details so I can hear directly about their experiences and the issues affecting their daily lives,” he added.
Atiku, who served as Nigeria’s Vice-President from 1999 to 2007, has contested the presidency on several occasions.
He urged Nigerians to participate by submitting questions and recommendations, arguing that transparent, technology-driven governance should begin with leaders listening directly to the people.
