The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned that fake polling units and voting booths could be created in different parts of Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ayodele, in a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, alleged that the fake polling units would be established across the country as part of plans to manipulate the election.
He warned unsuspecting voters could be affected if the development was not detected and addressed early.
The cleric urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take the warning seriously, stressing that the alleged scheme could negatively affect the credibility of the 2027 elections.
According to him, plans to rig the election had already been put in place, with the creation of fake polling units and booths, as well as the use of fake electoral materials, allegedly forming part of the strategy.
Ayodele said, “For the upcoming election in Nigeria, I am seeing a lot of fake things regarding the election which the INEC must take seriously. I am seeing fake polling units and booths spread across the country to weaken the votes of some individuals and rig some people out.”
He called on INEC to intensify its preparations and ensure voters are properly informed about the locations and procedures for the election.
The cleric also predicted that the 2027 presidential election would be highly competitive and difficult, while accusing INEC of not showing sufficient preparedness.
He urged the INEC Chairman to put the commission in order and ensure that the election is conducted credibly.
Ayodele warned that failure to properly prepare for the election could have serious consequences for the electoral commission and its leadership.
He said, “INEC hasn’t shown readiness for this coming election. They don’t know what is coming, but I want to urge the chairman to put his house in order and deliver a credible election because there will be issues if he doesn’t.”
He added that the 2027 election would be tougher than previous elections.
