President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to track down and eliminate terrorist groups following recent explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Reacting to the attacks, which were reportedly carried out by Boko Haram, Tinubu stated that the country would not be intimidated by acts of violence.

The coordinated blasts occurred on Monday at several locations within the city, including the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, the Monday Market Roundabout, and a nearby post office.

In a statement he personally signed, the President expressed sympathy with the victims and the government of Borno State, assuring Nigerians that efforts to combat terrorism would be intensified.

He revealed that he had instructed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri immediately to take charge of operations on the ground. He also highlighted recent steps taken by his administration to strengthen the military, including the approval of additional equipment and operational support.

Tinubu described the attacks as desperate actions by terrorist groups under pressure from ongoing military operations, noting that security forces had recently repelled coordinated assaults on military positions in the state.

He assured citizens that both military and civilian security efforts would continue to target and dismantle terrorist networks across the country.

The President also directed emergency agencies to provide adequate medical care for those injured in the blasts.

Reiterating his stance, Tinubu emphasized that no part of Nigeria would serve as a safe haven for terrorists, pledging that they would be located, confronted, and defeated.

Meanwhile, the President has departed Abuja for an official visit to the United Kingdom. He was seen off by senior government officials, including his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
