Joseph Aloba, father of late singer Mohbad, has maintained that his son will not be laid to rest until a DNA test is carried out to confirm the paternity of the singer’s child.

A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, had earlier ordered a DNA test to determine whether Liam Aloba is the biological son of the deceased. The ruling was delivered by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga following an application filed by the singer’s father.

Speaking in a video shared on social media, Aloba alleged that certain influential individuals were trying to obstruct the process. He also revealed that he might seek to have the case moved out of Lagos, possibly to Ekiti State, after consulting with his legal team.

He stressed that the DNA test remains a crucial condition before any burial can take place, urging the Lagos State Government to allow him proceed once the test is completed. He also called on the public to support his demand, describing it as necessary to establish important facts.

Legal representatives of the family had earlier expressed concerns about the capability of some laboratories selected for the test. According to the family’s lawyer, the court directed that the examination be conducted in three agreed facilities to ensure transparency. These include DNA Diagnostics Centre, AlphaBiolabs, and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited.

Preliminary findings by the legal team reportedly raised questions about the standards of some of the labs.

Mohbad passed away in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, sparking widespread public attention and legal disputes surrounding his death, estate, and the paternity of his child. His son, Liam, was born in April 2023, months before his passing, and the issue has continued to generate national interest.
