The Central Bank of Nigeria has issued a public warning about the increasing circulation of fake messages, emails, and online communications falsely claiming to originate from the apex bank.

Drivetvnews gathered this In a statement released by Hakama Sidi-Ali, the bank explained that such messages are crafted to deceive unsuspecting individuals and, in some cases, gain unauthorised access to their financial accounts through malicious links and fake platforms.

According to the CBN, these fraudulent communications often contain misleading claims related to its leadership, licensing processes, and policy decisions, making them appear credible to the public.

The bank advised Nigerians to avoid clicking on suspicious links or sharing personal and financial details on unverified websites. It stressed that all official information should only be confirmed through its recognised channels, particularly its official website and trusted media outlets.

The apex bank also encouraged members of the public to report any suspicious messages, emails, or websites to law enforcement agencies for proper investigation.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the financial system, the CBN stated that it is strengthening its cybersecurity measures in collaboration with relevant authorities to combat digital fraud and protect Nigerians from online threats.
