The Nigeria Police Force has called on members of the public to report any officer seen on duty without a clearly displayed name tag.
This directive follows an order by the Inspector-General of Police, Olutunji Disu, enforcing compliance with Section 50(4) of the Nigeria Police Act 2020. The law requires all police personnel to wear identification tags while performing official duties.
Reaffirming the policy, the police leadership stressed that operating without a name tag is not acceptable within the force. The Force Complaint Response Unit also echoed this stance, encouraging citizens to report violations as part of efforts to strengthen accountability.
The move is linked to the ongoing #NoToImpunity campaign, which aims to promote professionalism, transparency, and trust between the police and the public.
Authorities say the measure is part of broader reforms intended to improve discipline within the force and enhance police-community relations nationwide.
