The 2027 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Adewole Adebayo, has said he would put sellotape over the mouth of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, if he appointed him to his administration.
Drivetvnews gathered that Adebayo made the remark during an interview with Symfoni TV while discussing governance, the performance of the Bola Tinubu administration and recent political developments, including the Osun State governorship election.
Despite his criticism, the SDP candidate praised Wike’s work ethic and his contribution to infrastructure development in the FCT.
Adebayo said Wike had demonstrated a strong capacity for work, noting that previous FCT ministers had not achieved the same level of visible development.
He, however, questioned the value obtained from some of the projects, suggesting that some contracts may have been awarded at inflated costs.
The presidential candidate also criticised Wike’s style of public communication and what he described as an excessive emphasis on force and the power of the state.
Adebayo described the FCT minister as a poor example for Nigerian politics despite acknowledging his effectiveness in executing projects.
He said that if appointed to his administration, he would find a way to restrain Wike’s public outbursts while making use of his ability to deliver on infrastructure projects.
