First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has appealed to voters in the South-East to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
She made the appeal on Wednesday in Owerri, Imo State, during her official visit to the region as part of a women’s empowerment programme.
The First Lady said she and the President were committed to making Nigeria better, expressing her desire to enjoy a more prosperous country in her later years.
The empowerment initiative, implemented through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, is expected to benefit 18,500 women nationwide.
According to her, 500 women from each of the five South-East states would receive items such as generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens to support their businesses.
She disclosed that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma had provided additional empowerment materials for 2,000 women in the state, increasing the number of beneficiaries in Imo to 2,500.
In appreciation of the governor’s contribution, Mrs Tinubu announced an additional ₦100,000 cash support for each beneficiary in the state.
She urged the beneficiaries to use the equipment and financial assistance responsibly to improve their businesses, livelihoods and support their families.
Uzodimma, in his remarks, praised the First Lady’s efforts and expressed support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
The governor said the people of Imo State were satisfied with what he described as the President’s performance and pledged that the state would support him in the 2027 election.
Mrs Tinubu was also honoured with the traditional chieftaincy title of Osodieme by the traditional institution in Imo State.
