Armed gunmen have kidnapped the younger sister of former Minister of Power and APC governorship hopeful in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons in Ibadan.

Drivetvnews gathered that the incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday morning in the Challenge area of Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. According to a statement issued by Adelabu’s media aide, Femi Awogboro, the victim, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, was abducted while taking her children to school.

The 43-year-old woman was said to have been travelling with her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, when the attackers intercepted them and took all three away.

Mrs. John-Paul, the youngest child in the Adelabu family, previously worked with the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian before retiring voluntarily in 2025. She had recently relocated to Ibadan with her children while making plans to reunite with her husband in the United States.

Following the abduction, family members immediately alerted security agencies, which have since launched investigations and rescue efforts. Authorities are working to locate the victims and apprehend those responsible for the crime.

The Adelabu family expressed deep concern over the incident but remains hopeful that security operatives will secure the safe release of Mrs. John-Paul and her children. They appealed to the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could hinder ongoing investigations and urged anyone with useful information to contact the appropriate authorities.

The kidnapping comes amid rising insecurity concerns in Oyo State. In May 2026, more than 40 pupils and teachers were abducted during attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area. The state also witnessed the abduction of APC chieftain Wale Oriade in Ibadan in December 2025.

Police authorities said they were still verifying details of the latest incident as investigations continue.
