The Principal of Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, has dismissed reports claiming that the abductors of school officials and students demanded a ₦1 billion ransom, weapons, a Hilux vehicle and the implementation of Sharia law.

In a video believed to have been recorded while in captivity, Mrs. Alamu described the reports as inaccurate and misleading, warning that the circulation of false information could complicate ongoing efforts to secure the release of the victims.

According to her, the kidnappers have not requested money, vehicles, firearms or any other material items since the abduction occurred about 24 days ago.

She stated that the only condition communicated by the abductors was the release of some of their associates currently being held in prison.

Mrs. Alamu also refuted allegations that the captives were being pressured to adopt Islamic religious practices or that discussions about imposing Sharia law had taken place.

She explained that neither she nor the other victims had been forced to participate in any form of religious worship since they were taken hostage.

The school principal appealed to journalists, social media users and members of the public to avoid spreading unverified reports, stressing that misinformation could worsen the situation and place the lives of the captives at greater risk.

She urged all concerned parties to focus on supporting efforts aimed at securing the safe release of the victims.

The clarification comes amid growing concern over the fate of the abducted pupils and school personnel, as residents continue to call on security agencies and government authorities to intensify rescue operations.

Mrs. Alamu is the wife of Professor Wole Alamu of the Department of Forest Resources Management at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
