The Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspects for allegedly possessing a human skull believed to have been removed from a family grave in the state.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, the case began after a resident reported that he discovered his late elder brother’s grave had been tampered with during a visit to the family compound on June 15. He alleged that the deceased’s skull had been removed by unknown persons.
Following the complaint, police operatives launched an investigation and acted on credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of a 40-year-old suspect, Ogunsola Ojo.
During interrogation, Ojo allegedly identified three other individuals as accomplices. They were named as Ayeloja Lateef, Azeez Rasheed, and Kunle Fatai, who is currently on the run.
Police said a search of Fatai’s residence led to the recovery of the suspected human skull, which was hidden inside an uncompleted building located beside his house. The recovered item has since been documented as evidence.
The command stated that investigations are continuing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The police added that the arrested suspects will be charged in court once investigations are completed.
