The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the safe rescue of Mr. Owoade Mathew, a headteacher and farmer who was abducted along the Igbojaye–Budo Aare bush road in Oyo State.
Drivetvnews gathered In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police said the victim regained his freedom following a coordinated security operation that mounted sustained pressure on the kidnappers.
According to the command, the abductors abandoned Mr. Mathew on the evening of July 13, barely 24 hours after his abduction, due to the intensive search and security operations carried out by the police and other security agencies.
The rescued headteacher has been taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment. Police said he would be debriefed after receiving medical attention to assist investigators in identifying and tracking down those responsible for the crime.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the efforts of security personnel, community leaders and residents whose cooperation contributed to the successful operation.
He reassured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property, stressing that criminal elements would not be allowed to operate freely in the state.
The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations across Oyo State.
