The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reported the apprehension of 22 individuals linked to the murder of Inspector Usang Egbe and involvement in cult-related activities within the state. The arrests, carried out between January 31st and February 2nd, 2024, were confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, who emphasized the commitment to intensify efforts against criminal elements and ensure justice for heinous crimes.Among the detained suspects is Emem Ime Friday, alias BARRACKS, a serial murderer from Mbiaso village in Oruk Anam LGA, identified as the mastermind behind the Inen Clan Cult War. Notably, he was responsible for the brutal murder of Inen Clan Youth President, Hezekiah Adaidem, in 2022, and other victims in 2020. Additionally, Emmanuel Francis Daniel, aged 33, was arrested by Ika Division operatives for the killing of Pastor Emmanuel Jimmy Udoh in a church in Ika L.G.A.Further investigations revealed the arrest of Happiness Isaiah Ekanem and three accomplices from Ikono L.G.A., involved in the conspiracy and killing of Imo Isaiah Ekanem, aged 32. The statement confirmed ongoing investigations into this case.
