Troops of Sector 1, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), working alongside local hunters, have rescued a kidnap victim during a security operation along the Benue–Nasarawa border.
Drivetvnews gathered that the Nigerian Army disclosed the successful rescue in a post shared on its official X handle.
According to the Army, the operation was carried out at about 7:31 a.m. on July 17 by troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB), Torkula.
The victim was rescued in Ornan, a border community between Benue and Nasarawa states, after sustained pressure was mounted on suspected kidnappers operating within the area.
Following the rescue, the victim was immediately taken to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment.
The Army stated that troops have continued to intensify clearance operations and maintain a strong presence in vulnerable communities along the Benue–Nasarawa border to restrict the movement of criminal elements and improve security for residents.
