The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to stop blaming President Bola Tinubu and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his political challenges ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Drivetvnews gathered that In a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the APC reacted to remarks Adeleke reportedly made during a campaign rally in Osogbo on Monday, where he accused Tinubu and Oyetola of being responsible for his political troubles ahead of the election.
According to the party, Adeleke also claimed he had endorsed President Tinubu, now the Accord Party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election, yet was still being politically victimised. The governor also accused the police of bias while insisting he remained the state’s Chief Security Officer.
The APC dismissed the allegations as baseless, insisting that Adeleke was attempting to justify what it described as his impending electoral defeat.
Olabisi alleged that the governor was responsible for encouraging political violence in the state, accusing him of providing refuge and political appointments to suspected political thugs.
He also questioned the timing of what he described as the governor’s decision to grant amnesty to certain inmates serving jail terms for political-related offences, alleging it was aimed at influencing the forthcoming election.
The party argued that if Adeleke truly believed he had performed well in office, he should allow the electorate to decide through a free and fair election instead of making accusations against political opponents.
The APC further stated that Adeleke’s endorsement of Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election was a personal decision and should not be used as a basis for alleging political persecution.
It maintained that while Adeleke is constitutionally recognised as the state’s Chief Security Officer, he should also take responsibility for addressing security concerns within Osun rather than shifting blame to others.
