A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and lawyer, Kalu Kalu, has petitioned the European Union Commission over allegations of certificate forgery and constitutional violations against President Bola Tinubu.
Drivetvnews gathered that Kalu submitted the petition on Friday in Brussels, alleging that Tinubu submitted false academic credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The lawyer also accused the President of failing to provide details of his primary and secondary school education, which he claimed amounted to a violation of provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
Speaking while submitting the petition, Kalu alleged that Tinubu’s academic documents did not meet the constitutional requirements for contesting the presidency.
He specifically referenced Section 137 of the Constitution, arguing that anyone who presents a false certificate to INEC could be disqualified from contesting an election.
Kalu further alleged that the President had used his position to undermine constitutional processes, claiming that the alleged submission of false credentials had affected his eligibility for the 2027 presidential election.
The ADC chieftain said the petition was intended to draw international attention to what he described as the alleged subversion of Nigeria’s constitutional order.
However, the allegations remain claims by Kalu and would require appropriate legal or institutional determination.
