The All Progressives Congress candidate in the recently concluded Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has spoken publicly for the first time since losing the contest to incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Drivetvnews gathered in a statement shared on his verified X account on Tuesday, Oyebamiji said he respected the decision announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission regarding the outcome of the election.
INEC declared Adeleke the winner after he secured 511,067 votes, while Oyebamiji polled 444,815 votes.
Following the declaration, the APC candidate thanked party leaders, supporters and campaign volunteers across Osun State for their dedication throughout the election campaign.
Oyebamiji also expressed appreciation to those who supported the alternative programme and vision his campaign presented to the electorate.
He acknowledged that the result was different from what his team had hoped for, but said he respected the electoral process while supporting the APC’s ongoing assessment of the outcome.
According to him, the conclusion of the election does not mean that the issues and principles promoted during his campaign have disappeared.
Oyebamiji maintained that his commitment to contributing to Osun’s development remains intact, saying he would continue advocating for policies aimed at achieving inclusive, effective and rapid development across the state.
He urged his supporters to remain committed to the values promoted during the campaign, despite the conclusion of the electoral contest.
