Police operatives in Adamawa State have arrested 29 suspects during raids on locations identified as suspected “black spots” around Yola, the state capital.
The operation, carried out by officers of the Yola Area Police Command, followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, Kabir Umar Hassan, to dismantle locations allegedly being used for criminal activities across the state.
The operation was led by the Yola Area Commander, ACP Grace Sanda.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the operatives recovered items suspected to be connected with illicit drug use and distribution.
Among the items recovered were dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, tramadol capsules, wraps of suspected illicit substances, pipes, lighters, bottles and other materials.
Nguroje said the 29 suspects remain in police custody as investigators work to determine their individual roles and identify other persons allegedly connected to the activities uncovered during the raids.
He said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts by the Adamawa State Police Command to rid communities of locations being used to facilitate criminal activities.
The police command said further action would be taken based on the outcome of the investigations.
