Former lawmaker Dino Melaye has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress, APC, after Governor Ademola Adeleke emerged victorious in the Osun governorship election.
Following INEC’s declaration of Adeleke as the winner on Sunday, Melaye mocked the ruling party, arguing that the APC suffered a major defeat despite the backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Senate President and several governors.
Melaye used the development to declare that the APC could be heading towards political extinction, telling the party to “rest in peace.”
He wrote: “Till we meet again APC. Rest in Peace. 34 Governors, Senate President and Tinubu defeated. Odabo Tinubu… Ancestral State lost.”
The statement has added to the political reactions trailing Adeleke’s re-election and the APC’s defeat in the closely fought Osun poll.
