Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the winner of the state’s governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Drivetvnews gathered that the State Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, announced the result on Sunday.
Adeleke, who contested under the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, came third with 17,180 votes.
According to the results announced by the returning officer, Adeleke won in 19 of Osun State’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 LGAs.
Declaring the result, Ogunwole said Adeleke had satisfied the requirements of the law and was therefore returned as the winner of the election.
The returning officer said 1,010,684 voters were accredited, while 985,079 votes were declared valid. A total of 1,005,800 votes were recorded as cast, with 207 votes rejected.
The final declaration followed the signing of the collated results by agents of the participating political parties.
With the announcement, Adeleke has officially been returned as the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
