Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has stirred reactions online after a video showed him prostrating before his elder brother, Dr Adedeji Adeleke, in appreciation for his support during the just-concluded governorship election.
The video was shared on X by media publisher Dele Momodu on Wednesday.
In the footage, Adeleke is seen fully prostrating in the traditional Yoruba manner before his elder brother, who is also the father of Afrobeats star Davido. Dr Adedeji Adeleke subsequently prayed for the governor and his administration as family members and associates watched.
The gesture came days after Adeleke was declared winner of the August 15, 2026 Osun governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes.
The video has attracted widespread reactions on social media, with many users praising Adeleke for showing respect to his elder brother despite occupying the highest political office in the state.
Some users also described the gesture as a reflection of the Yoruba cultural value of respecting elders and the Omoluabi principle of humility, gratitude and good character.
The scene has further drawn attention to the close relationship within the Adeleke family, particularly following the governor’s re-election and Davido’s prominent involvement in the election.
