Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to work against any attempt by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, Wike said he would not remain inactive while Atiku, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, seeks to win Rivers State and the FCT.
He described himself as a key figure in the political structures of both territories, insisting that he would actively mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the election.
Wike also explained that his return to Rivers was not solely politically motivated, saying he wanted to reconnect with his people and attend to family responsibilities while also assessing developments in the state.
He maintained that the political season had begun and questioned why he would remain passive and allow Atiku to gain an advantage in the two territories.
