The Chairman of Faskari Local Government Area in Katsina State, Musa Faskari, has verified the tragic incident where two worshippers were killed during Ramadan prayers in Mairua community.
Faskari, speaking to BBC Hausa Service as reported by Drivetvnews, stated that the attack occurred during Tarawih prayers on Saturday night.
According to him, the assailants entered the home of Alhaji Lado Mairua during prayers, demanding his compliance, which he refused, leading to his fatal shooting. Additionally, a neighbor who arrived at the scene on a motorcycle was also killed after witnessing the incident and raising an alarm.
Tragically, the attack resulted in the abduction of Alhaji Lado Mairua’s wife and his 15-year-old daughter. Faskari noted that this is the second time Lado’s wife has been abducted by bandits, highlighting the dire situation faced by residents of Faskari due to frequent attacks.
Expressing concern over the audacity of the bandits, Faskari mentioned another attack earlier that day in Malalai village where two individuals were killed, and two women were abducted. He added that a soldier was also killed in Ruwan Godiya on the same day.
Faskari emphasized the urgent need for the Federal Government to intervene, stating that the situation exceeds the capacity of the state alone to handle. He urged security forces to take decisive action against the bandits by invading their hideouts and putting an end to their activities.
