An Islamic cleric named Oluwafemi Idris was recently arrested by police in Ondo State for possession of fresh human body parts. Accompanying him were two other suspects, Samuel Kutelu and Babatunde Kayode, caught in the Akoko area of the state’s northern senatorial district.
Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, revealed that the arrest followed intelligence regarding the cleric’s involvement in ritualistic practices. Upon searching Idris’s residence, law enforcement uncovered a disturbing assortment of human body parts, including hands, kidneys, hearts, a spine, and a tongue.
Further investigation led authorities to pursue a fugitive suspect allegedly responsible for supplying the human remains, including three human heads, as claimed by Idris.
Odunlami-Omisanya emphasized that the identities of the suspects and precise location of the arrest will be disclosed in due time to safeguard ongoing inquiries.
“The police received credible information in January 2024 regarding the possession of human body parts by an individual known as Alfa in his locality, suspected to be intended for ritualistic purposes. Swift action led to the apprehension of the suspect and the discovery of the aforementioned human remains at his residence in Akoko.”
