The FCT Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit successfully rescued Mart Ojadi, 15, and Evelyn Chinaza, 12, who were abducted by gunmen in Guto village, Bwari, on June 30, 2024. SP Josephine Adeh, the state Police Public Relations Officer, announced this on Sunday, stating that the police collaborated with DSS officials to track the kidnappers to Gauraka Forest, Niger State. A confrontation ensued, leading the criminals to flee with injuries.

The statement detailed the swift response to the attack, where Mart Ojadi and Evelyn Chinaza were forcefully taken by unknown gunmen around 01:30 p.m. The FCT police anti-kidnapping unit promptly mobilized, demonstrating bravery alongside DSS officials. They strategically engaged the assailants at Gauraka Forest, resulting in a fierce gun battle that overwhelmed the kidnappers, who escaped with varying bullet injuries. Fortunately, both victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.

Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, emphasized the command’s unwavering commitment to preserving peace and security in the capital city. He urged residents to maintain vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police emergency lines.
