Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has celebrated Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka as a significant source of pride for Nigeria and Africa as the renowned writer marks his 90th birthday. Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Soyinka’s literary contributions remain a cornerstone in academic circles worldwide.
Sanwo-Olu conveyed warm felicitations to Prof. Wole Soyinka on behalf of his family, the Lagos State government, and its people, stating, “Prof. Soyinka is a literary giant who has excelled across various genres, with his extensive body of work serving as a benchmark in academic spheres globally. He is a source of immense pride for Nigeria, Africa, and the entire black community.”
He continued, highlighting Soyinka’s role as a steadfast advocate for truth, justice, and fairness, as well as his vocal support for democracy and accountable governance in Africa.
