The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has clarified the release date for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. On Tuesday, WAEC’s Communication Officer Moyosore Adeyegbe addressed the circulating rumor of an August 5 release date, calling it “unofficial.”
Adeyegbe confirmed that no official release date has been set yet and urged students and parents to be patient while awaiting further information from WAEC. The council reassured that efforts are being made to release the results both promptly and accurately.
She noted, “The results could be released either before or after August 5. The date in question has not been validated by the proper channels.”
Regarding the August 5 date, Adeyegbe explained, “Results are generally issued on or within 45 days following the last exam paper. Since August 5 does not align with this timeline, it cannot be considered accurate.” She further stated that the date circulating is not officially endorsed by WAEC and remains speculative.
Additionally, examiner Abiodun Abubakar revealed that the grading process concluded on Sunday. He suggested that the results might be available soon, potentially within the first few weeks of August, though this could be influenced by the planned August 1 protest.
