Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), has stated that it is not possible for the police to arrest all criminals at a time. This comment came in response to an X user who shared a photograph of suspected terrorists flaunting bundles of naira notes, presumably from kidnapping ransoms. The user remarked, “They are now posing with the ransom money, showing that they are balling.”

Adejobi responded, “We can’t arrest all criminals at once. Please appreciate the criminals we do manage to apprehend. We arrest them daily, in significant numbers. The armed forces and the police are doing their utmost. The efforts of security forces should be recognized and valued. We need collective and individual efforts to address insecurity and other issues in Nigeria.”

In a separate development, the NPF has clarified that the recent raid at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) secretariat was unrelated to the NLC, its staff, or leadership. According to Naija News, Adejobi explained that the operation was aimed at a suspected criminal located in a shop within the Central Business District of Abuja, which happened to be in the NLC building. Adejobi also requested the NLC leadership’s cooperation and support in the ongoing investigation related to the raid.
