In a recent press conference held at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Auditorium in Wuse 2, Abuja, Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), addressed the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s certificate. Obi highlighted the alleged forged Diploma Certificate from Chicago State University (CSU) submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by President Tinubu. Expressing concern, Obi emphasized that this controversy has led to Nigerians being perceived globally as fraudsters and certificate forgers. He urged President Tinubu to disclose his true identity, the school he attended, and the details of his CSU certificate to avoid embarrassment for himself and the nation. Obi stressed the importance of morality, honor, and integrity in this matter.

Meanwhile, Atiku, challenging Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election, raised suspicions about the authenticity of Tinubu’s submitted certificate and alleged discrepancies and forgeries in his academic records. Atiku, supported by Peter Obi and other notable figures like Rabiu Kwankwaso, sought justice in this controversy. Following Atiku’s request, the US court for the Northern District of Illinois compelled CSU to release Tinubu’s academic records, which are now public knowledge.
