Nollywood actor Ayobami Olabiyi, better known as Bobo B, has reportedly died in Ibadan, Oyo State. The announcement of his passing came from Bose Akinola, the Oyo State Governor of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), as reported by Drivetvnews.
Olabiyi, who previously served as TAMPAN’s Oyo State governor and was the current national secretary, passed away following a brief illness. According to The Nation, he was expected to participate in a film production in Oyo last month but was unable to attend due to his declining health.
He received treatment at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, where he eventually passed away.
Akinola’s statement read: “On behalf of the Oyo State TAMPAN Governor, Her Excellency Yeye Bose Akinola, I am announcing the passing of our TAMPAN national general secretary, Chief Alhaji Musadshir Ayobami Olabiyi ‘Bobo B’. May God grant his family and TAMPAN members the strength to endure this loss. Insha Allah, Amen.”
In a tribute, his colleague Abidemi Temitayo recalled a fond memory from a past film set: “I remember clearly the night we took that picture after filming. We were both on set, and when the director asked us to do a retake, I felt it wasn’t needed. Bobo B supported me, saying I knew what I was doing. We all laughed, completed the scene in one take, and took some photos together before leaving. It’s heartbreaking to hear that such a cheerful man is no longer with us.”
He added, “Alhaji Mudashir Ayobami Olabiyi, this is truly a loss. Rest in peace, Bobo B. The industry and many others will deeply miss you.”
