The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified why social media personality Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, was re-arrested in Lagos on Thursday night.
Bobrisky was detained by immigration authorities at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while attempting to board a KLM flight to London via Amsterdam.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated on Friday morning that Bobrisky was taken into custody due to his failure to respond to multiple summons from the commission.
Oyewale disclosed that the crossdresser is under investigation for bribery, with accusations of allegedly paying N15 million to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges.
The EFCC has denied these allegations and indicated that Bobrisky may face charges for providing false information.
“We detained him in Lagos, and he will be transferred to Abuja,” Oyewale confirmed.
“He accused the commission of bribery and corruption but ignored repeated invitations to present evidence supporting these claims. Such serious accusations must be addressed. Additionally, he refused to appear before the National Assembly regarding the matter. We had no choice but to detain him to ensure he provides proof for his allegations,” the spokesperson elaborated.
In a separate incident, a viral video has captured a dramatic confrontation involving a Nigerian man attempting to reclaim a business kiosk he built for his girlfriend after they ended their relationship.
The footage shows the distressed man dismantling the wooden and zinc structure while a crowd watches the intense exchange.
The woman fights back vigorously to retain the kiosk, but the man ultimately succeeds in taking it down.
The video has sparked mixed reactions online, with some sympathizing with the man and supporting his actions as a justified response to betrayal.
