A man named Muftau Adefalu has reportedly killed his former wife, Yetunde Olayiwole, in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
According to the Ogun State Police, Adefalu has been arrested and is currently in custody following Olayiwole’s death.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, Omolola Odutola, informed Sunday PUNCH on Saturday evening that the incident took place around 8 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024.
Reports indicate that the 37-year-old suspect and Olayiwole had an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, Olayiwole reportedly collapsed and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Odutola stated, “The suspect and his ex-wife had a disagreement that turned into a fight. She collapsed during the altercation and was immediately transported to a hospital for medical care.
“She was later declared dead by the attending physician. Her body has been moved to the Ifo General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. The suspect has been taken into custody and is being detained.”
This incident follows another recent case in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a 39-year-old man, Olusegun Tinubu, was allegedly killed by his wife, Comfort Tinubu. The Oyo State police have detained the suspect and have initiated an investigation into that case.
