A fire incident at Alaba Rago Market in Lagos, which occurred early Wednesday morning, has caused significant damage, with property worth hundreds of millions of naira destroyed.
In a statement, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that the fire began during the night, though the exact cause remains unknown.
The agency’s head, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, stated that emergency responders promptly rushed to the scene upon receiving information about the fire. Unfortunately, by the time they arrived, the flames had already begun consuming numerous shops in the market.
Omowe Oke-Osanyintolu added that the emergency team immediately commenced efforts to extinguish the fire. He also noted that other individuals at the scene, apart from emergency personnel, joined in attempting to control the blaze.
