The report indicates that popular searches in 2024 included Bobrisky, a controversial public figure; Betta Edu, the former Minister of Human Resources removed over corruption allegations; and the National Grid, reflecting concerns about the country’s power infrastructure. Rising music artist Shallipopi, known for his contributions to the Taka-Sufee genre, also emerged as one of the most-searched personalities.

Among the trending technology searches was the iPhone 16, which has been identified as one of the most expensive smartphones of the year. Google’s report also noted that political matters are a significant focus for West Africans, with Nigerians showing particular interest in political developments, economic issues, and the recent U.S. elections.
