The Nigeria Police Force has detained a police officer featured in a viral video alongside Wahab and Raheem Okoya, sons of billionaire businessman Chief Razaq Okoya, engaging in activities involving the abuse of the naira.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this on his X account on Friday. He stated that the officer’s actions, as captured in the video, were unethical and went against the principles of the police force, adding that disciplinary measures were being taken to address the misconduct.

Adejobi wrote: “The police officer seen in the recent viral video shared by the sons of Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where the naira was being abused, has been identified and is now in custody for disciplinary action.

“The officer’s involvement has been condemned as it violates the ethical standards of the force. We remain committed to preserving the sanctity, integrity, and core values of the police. Thank you.”

The video, which emerged last week, sparked widespread criticism, with many alleging that the Okoya sons would face no consequences due to their father’s influence in the country.

In the clip, Wahab and Raheem Okoya, dressed in white agbada, are seen flaunting bundles of crisp N1000 notes while promoting Raheem’s new song titled Credit Alert. At one point, the video shows a mobile police officer holding bundles of the naira notes as the Okoya brothers danced and threw the cash into the air.
