The Kebbi State Police Command has reported that its officers killed four suspected kidnappers in Suru Local Government Area.

In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Nafi’u Abubakar, stated that the police recovered ₦3 million, which the suspects had collected as ransom from a 60-year-old man, Umaru Bawa, who was abducted on Friday night.

According to the statement, the kidnapping occurred around 1:45 p.m. when armed men attacked Gobiraje Village in Suru Local Government Area and took Bawa.

Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Suru immediately mobilized a team of officers and local vigilantes to pursue the suspects.

The search led them to Tundafari Forest in the Dakingari area, where security personnel engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight.

“As a result, four of the kidnappers were killed, one was captured with serious injuries, and others escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds,” Abubakar said.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, commended the officers for their prompt response, bravery, and professionalism in handling the situation.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fighting crime and urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
