Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, the National Youth President of Afenifere, recently confirmed that he was abducted by Fulani herdsmen while en route to Abuja on February 17. According to his Facebook update on Friday, the incident occurred at around 1:42 p.m. in Akunnu Akoko, Ondo State, and he is still undergoing significant medical treatment following the ordeal.

Ojajuni expressed deep gratitude to everyone who supported him financially, spiritually, and emotionally during this challenging time. He also thanked those who reached out to his wife with words of encouragement and promised to formally acknowledge all the support once he recovers fully.

A report by Drivetvnews on March 1 revealed that a ransom of at least N17 million was paid to secure his release after approximately 12 days in captivity. Reliable family sources indicated that his wife personally delivered the ransom in Akure. They also noted that, despite repeated appeals, the Nigerian government did not provide any financial assistance and security agencies were unable to locate the kidnappers until the ransom was disbursed. One source commented, “We received no help from the government, and police efforts yielded no results, forcing us to raise the necessary funds ourselves.”

Due to security concerns, Ojajuni is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed location. Prior to his release, members of the Afenifere group condemned the deteriorating security situation and called on the Ondo and Kogi state governments to act swiftly, given that the abduction occurred near their border.

Additionally, Abiodun Aderonhunmu, the National Secretary of the Afenifere Youth Council, disclosed that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N100 million.
