The Jigawa State Police Command has taken a 20-year-old woman, Rukayyah Amadu, into custody for allegedly killing her co-wife, Asiyah Amadu, 30, by pouring hot water on her.

According to a statement from the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, the tragic incident happened on February 24, 2025, in Buju village, Dutse Local Government Area, following a dispute between the two women.

“Asiyah Amadu suffered severe burns and was immediately taken to Dutse General Hospital for medical treatment. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries on March 4, 2025, at approximately 9:00 AM,” the statement read.

Authorities confirmed that Rukayyah Amadu has been arrested and handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further inquiries.

During questioning, Rukayyah reportedly admitted to the crime. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full details of the incident.

Police Investigate Murder of Newlywed Woman

In another tragic case, a 22-year-old newly married woman, Zainab Ibrahim, was found unconscious and covered in blood at her home in Warware Quarters, Hadejia Local Government Area.

Responding to the scene, the Hadejia Divisional Police Officer and his team discovered a deep cut on her throat.

“Zainab was immediately rushed to General Hospital Hadejia, where doctors pronounced her dead,” SP Adam stated.

The police have launched an investigation and are actively working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the brutal attack.

Mysterious Killing of 14-Year-Old Almajiri

Meanwhile, authorities are also investigating the gruesome murder of a 14-year-old almajiri, Bashir Adamu, whose headless and mutilated body was found near Jikas-Dabaja village in Gwaram Local Government Area.

Family members had reported Bashir missing two days before his remains were discovered.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that ritualists may have been responsible for the killing. Efforts are underway to track down those involved,” the police statement noted.

The Jigawa State Police Command has reassured the public that all three cases will be thoroughly investigated, and those found guilty will face justice.
