A TikTok user, known as @briannwana, shared a video of himself preparing and enjoying a bowl of garri, along with a receipt showing the details of his order.

According to the receipt, his meal included Ijebu garri mixed with milk, cold water, yaji fried fish, sugar, groundnuts, and peppered ponmo. The total cost of ₦14,000 sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing their disbelief.

In the video, he posed a question to viewers: “Would you spend ₦14,000 on garri?”

Social media users quickly responded with mixed opinions:

Mann criticized the expense, saying, “This classist mentality is what’s holding the country back. Why is he smiling while paying ₦14,000 for garri?”

@6TH ÅPRÏL FOR MÊ compared prices, listing the cost of similar ingredients in his area, totaling ₦2,500. He jokingly added, “I still have ₦11,500 left.”

@WILLS_4EVA referenced a popular artist’s activism, commenting, “See the kind of youth Raye is fighting for.”

@LONER advised, “Work hard so that you don’t see enjoyment as a waste of money.”

@Princess Kenneth was unimpressed, writing, “₦14,000 for garri with just one sachet of Peak milk? That’s daylight robbery!”
