The Presidency has acknowledged the Grammy nominations of Nigerian singers, extending congratulations to Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, and Ayra Starr for their achievements. In a post on Friday night, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga conveyed well wishes to the artists for their nominations in various categories at the upcoming 66th Grammy Awards scheduled for February 4, 2024, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Davido, also known as OBO, received three Grammy nominations for songs from his 2023 studio album ‘Timeless,’ marking his first Grammy recognition. Burna Boy, with four nominations, became the first Nigerian artist with the most Grammy nominations in history. His song ‘Sittin’ On Top of The World’ earned a nomination in the Best Melodic Rap Performance category, making it the first African song in the Rap category.

Ayra Starr, at 21 years old, made history as the youngest Nigerian to receive a Grammy nomination. Her hit song ‘Rush’ is nominated in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category. Olamide, on the other hand, secured a Grammy nomination, making history as the first Nigerian rapper to do so. His collaborative song ‘Amapiano’ with Asake is nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance category, competing with tracks from Davido, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, and Tyla.
