Suspected terrorists have abducted a Catholic priest, Rev. Father Ibrahim Amos, in Kurmin Risga, located within the Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Thursday, at approximately 12:15 a.m., when the priest was taken from his residence at St. Gerald Quasi Parish in Kurmin Risga.

The abduction was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan. He described the incident as extremely distressing and called on the public to pray for the priest’s swift and safe return.

“We earnestly request your prayers for his immediate and secure release,” Shanet stated. He also urged the community to remain calm and refrain from taking matters into their own hands, emphasizing that all lawful measures are being taken to ensure the priest’s safe recovery.

Attempts to contact the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting, as calls to his phone went unanswered.
