Operatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have apprehended a well-known native doctor, Levi Obieze, also known by his alias “E de play, e de show,” who is wanted by the Enugu State Police Command in connection with cases of abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killings.

The arrest was confirmed on Thursday by the Comptroller General of the NIS, Kemi Nandap, through a statement issued by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi. The statement, titled “Nigeria Immigration Service Confirms Arrest of Notorious Crime Suspect, Obi Levi Obieze,” detailed how Obieze was caught while attempting to escape the country.

Acting on reliable intelligence, officers from the Lagos State Border Patrol Command intercepted Obieze at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road. He was trying to flee on a motorcycle when he was arrested.

Obieze, a native of Umuojor village in the Isiagu community of Enugu State, is alleged to have abducted a 13-year-old girl earlier in the week. This incident came to light shortly after two decomposing bodies of pregnant women were discovered in a soakaway pit reportedly located within a native doctor’s compound, sparking fear and outrage in the community.

The abduction reportedly occurred while the young girl was walking to the farm with her father. Eyewitness accounts say two men on a motorcycle staged a mechanical breakdown to lure the pair. One of the men asked the father for a cutlass to help repair the bike, and while he was distracted, they seized the girl and sped off.

Following the incident, local vigilantes and the police launched a search. Residents claimed they heard cries for help coming from the vicinity of Obieze’s home. When a search party arrived at his compound, the native doctor allegedly tried to resist their entry. Despite this, the group forced their way in, rescued the missing girl, and made a gruesome discovery—two decomposing bodies of pregnant women in separate soakaway pits.

A video circulating on social media showed enraged community members parading Obieze naked, visibly angry over the shocking revelations. Obieze, who is infamous for his flashy lifestyle and public displays of wealth, was said to have fled with his four wives before being caught.

Akinlabi confirmed that Obieze’s identity was verified through a National Identity Management Commission slip found in his possession. During initial questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crimes.

The NIS stated it is working closely with the Nigeria Police Force to facilitate Obieze’s transfer for further investigation, reaffirming its dedication to strengthening national border security.
