The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has appealed to Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office.

Speaking during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities at the Oluwo prayer ground in Iwo, Osun State, on Friday, the monarch compared President Tinubu’s current reforms to the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim, which the Islamic festival commemorates.

Oba Akanbi acknowledged the hardships many Nigerians are facing but emphasized that these challenges are necessary steps toward rebuilding the country after years of mismanagement by previous governments.

He maintained that, unlike some of his predecessors who failed to address the country’s economic problems, President Tinubu has chosen to confront the issues head-on with courageous and transformative actions.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, the traditional ruler urged citizens to support what he described as a progressive movement aimed at restoring Nigeria’s lost greatness.

“True patriots must stand by President Tinubu and support his bid for a second term,” Oba Akanbi said. “That support is essential for continuing the bold reforms needed to reposition our nation.”

He praised Tinubu as a trailblazing leader and noted that the current administration has been proactive in tackling challenges that have long hindered Nigeria’s growth.

“Many who once doubted him are now recognizing the value of his policies,” the monarch noted. “Eventually, we will all celebrate the positive outcomes.”

Oba Akanbi also commended the decision to end fuel subsidies, calling it a brave and necessary move for national recovery.

He urged Nigerians to stay focused on long-term gains and warned that those opposing progress will be left behind by what he referred to as “Tinubu’s moving train.”

“Let’s not be distracted by short-term discomforts,” he added. “With rising workers’ salaries and decreasing food prices, the impact of the reforms is becoming visible. It’s time for all of us to contribute to Nigeria’s development with truth, integrity, and a commitment to progress.”
