Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has condemned the killing of two men from Kano State by suspected youths in the Agan area of Makurdi.

The victims, who were transporting goods to southeastern Nigeria, were reportedly attacked around 11 p.m. on Monday after stopping to purchase a recharge card. A security source revealed that they had parked their truck in the community when the assailants struck.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, Governor Alia described the attack as “barbaric and unacceptable” and called for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Following the governor’s directive, police in Makurdi have already arrested five suspects in connection with the crime.

Expressing his grief over the incident, Alia stressed that Benue people are known for being peaceful and welcoming. He warned that criminal behavior would not be tolerated and pledged that those responsible would face the full weight of the law.

He also extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State and assured the people of Kano that the state government would ensure justice is served.
