In a significant development for security in Zamfara State, two of the region’s most feared bandit leaders—Kacalla Maijikka and Me Dada—have been killed by local vigilante groups during a targeted operation.
The offensive took place on Wednesday in Garagi village, located in the Mayanchi district of Maru Local Government Area. According to reports, vigilantes launched a surprise attack on the bandits following credible intelligence on their whereabouts.
During the raid, Me Dada, a notorious gang leader responsible for numerous violent attacks and abductions, was killed and subsequently beheaded by the vigilantes, who took his head as evidence of their success.
Sources also confirmed the death of Kacalla Maijikka, another high-profile criminal known for abducting victims and demanding large ransoms—only to kill the captives even after payments were made.
The deaths of these two criminal figures have brought a sense of relief to residents who have endured years of violence, kidnappings, and displacement due to repeated attacks by armed gangs.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar, stated: “I’m aware that the two bandits were eliminated.”
The incident is being hailed as a major success in the fight against banditry in the region.
