A tricycle operator in Aba, Abia State, has received widespread praise after returning ₦4 million that a passenger mistakenly left behind in his vehicle.

The rider, identified as Lucky Okoro, shared the incident on his Facebook page on Thursday, expressing gratitude to God for giving him the chance to act with integrity. According to Okoro, the event took place after he transported a woman from Aba Main Park to Ariaria Market.

The passenger, a Cameroonian national, had forgotten a bag containing ₦4 million in his tricycle. Upon realizing the situation, Okoro returned to both locations in search of her. He eventually found her at a junction near Ariaria Market, crying and visibly distressed.

Okoro recounted, “She was crying and almost ready to take her life. I approached her, wiped her tears, and gave her back the money. I then took her to a nearby hotel to help her recover.”

Despite ridicule from some fellow tricycle operators who labeled him a “mugu” for returning the large sum, Okoro remained proud of his decision, saying, “I’m not a mugu. I’m happy I made someone else happy. All thanks to Jehovah.”

He also identified himself as a Jehovah’s Witness from Umuomei, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The story has since gone viral, with many Nigerians commending Okoro’s honesty and saying that his action sets a rare example of integrity.

This is not the first time such an act has gained public attention in the state. In May, Governor Alex Otti rewarded another tricycle rider in Aba who returned ₦2.4 million forgotten by a passenger. The governor awarded the rider ₦1.4 million for his honesty.
