The Olugbon of Orile-Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao, has expressed his commitment to assisting in the complete reintegration of Yoruba Nation campaigner, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, back into the country.

During a visit by Igboho and his team to the Olugbon’s palace on Tuesday, the revered traditional leader commended the activist’s bravery and unwavering stance against the violent activities of herdsmen and bandits in the Southwest. He noted that Igboho’s actions had played a vital role in awakening consciousness and strengthening unity across Yorubaland.

“The struggle you’ve led for the emancipation of the Yoruba people has brought us to this point of awareness and unity. Your time abroad has served its purpose; now it’s time to return and continue your work, but this time within the framework of the law,” the monarch advised.

Oba Alao also revealed plans to meet with governors from the Southwest region, under the leadership of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, to discuss Igboho’s return and potential contributions to regional security. He added that formal letters would be dispatched to both federal and state authorities within 48 hours to support this initiative.

Declaring his support publicly, the Olugbon described Sunday Igboho as a vital asset in addressing the security challenges facing the Southwest.

In his remarks, Chief Adeyemo expressed deep gratitude to the monarch, acknowledging his unwavering support during challenging times.

“Baba stood by me when I needed it most. He was among the few traditional rulers who willingly endorsed the documents that facilitated my release. Even when I needed to return home to bury my mother, he used his influence to make it possible for me to move around without any restrictions. I hold his support in high regard,” Igboho said.

He also appealed to the federal government to clear his name from any existing wanted lists and urged authorities to enhance security measures across the Southwest.
