The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 16-year-old boy, Lawal Wahab, whose dismembered body was discovered several days after he was declared missing.

Wahab, who resided with his grandmother, was reported missing by his father, Lawal Olumide. His decomposing remains were found on July 23 along the Old Express Road in the Igbile-Ijebu area.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, described the incident as a suspected ritual killing. She revealed that a preliminary inspection of the body showed that several parts, including the head, wrists, heart, and genitals, had been removed—indicating a possible ritualistic motive.

Odutola confirmed that multiple arrests had been made following credible intelligence. Officers from the Omu-Ijebu Division apprehended several suspects, including 25-year-old Salawu Omikansola and Serefusi Agemo. One of the suspects reportedly gave a voluntary confession, which was also captured on video.

Due to the condition of the body, the deceased was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

Odutola added that the case file, along with all relevant evidence, is being prepared for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for further action. Efforts are also underway to apprehend other individuals connected to the crime who are currently at large.

The command strongly condemned the brutal act and assured the public that all those involved would be brought to justice. Odutola urged residents to remain alert and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station promptly.
