The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has begun an urgent review of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, following the discovery of technical issues affecting their accuracy.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, WAEC explained that certain glitches and bugs were detected in the released results. The council noted that these issues arose after conducting a paper serialization process on subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.

As a result of the ongoing review, WAEC has temporarily suspended access to its online result checking portal. Candidates who had previously accessed their results are advised to recheck them after 24 hours, beginning Thursday, August 7, 2025.

This announcement comes shortly after the examination body confirmed the temporary shutdown of its portal on Wednesday. Adesina assured the public that the issue is being addressed and will be resolved within a day, while also apologizing for any inconvenience caused.

It should be noted that WAEC officially released the 2025 May/June WASSCE results on Monday, August 4, for over 1.9 million candidates who sat the exams across more than 23,000 schools nationwide.
